A Weekly Pause to Move You Forward
You’re reading Infinite Momentum: a Sunday reflection followed by 130+ thoughtful executives, founders, and creatives navigating growth, change, and clarity.
We’re continuing Chapter 3 of Infinite Momentum: Growth & Integration, where stillness gives way to movement.
“Don’t ask what the world needs… ask what makes you come alive.”
Most of the time, I try to be thoughtful.
Calculated. Responsible. Strategic.
But when was the last time I felt truly alive?
Last Saturday, a friend texted me:
“I have 4 tix (to Game 7 of the NBA Finals). 3 of us going to the game. Before I sell the extra tix, want to get your butt on a plane? I’m serious.”
No time to plan. No time to rationalize.
Just a quick shower, a change of clothes, and the last flight out of LAX at 11:50 p.m.
Three Southwest redeye flights later (two in the middle seat), I was in a deafening arena, surrounded by 18,000 OKC fans and about 200 Pacers fans, grinning from ear to ear.

I wasn’t productive. I wasn’t optimized.
I was just... awake again.
There were plenty of reasons not to go.
The cost. The sleep deficit. The risk I’d miss a connection.
Work. Home. Life.
But for 48 hours, I let myself be just a little carefree.
I stepped off the treadmill, and it was fun. Really fun.
And as if the game itself wasn’t enough, a ridiculous sequence of events somehow led to this: Me. Chet Holmgren. The Larry O’Brien trophy.
I still don’t totally know how it happened, but there I was, still buzzing from the win, getting a photo I’ll probably frame forever.

Sometimes the universe says clearly, “Yeah, this was the move.”
What made it all possible wasn’t luck or strategy.
It was a friend who thought of me. A special relationship built over time.
Sometimes when you say yes to good people, the magic shows up too.
Last weekend reminded me that feeling alive isn’t a reward for getting everything else done. It’s a requirement. And I’d been forgetting that lately.
We spend so much time asking what the world needs.
Maybe the world also needs the version of us laughing at midnight, walking out of a loud arena.
The one who trades sleep for something unforgettable.
The one who’s not just contributing, but actually feeling something.
You don’t need to fly across the country.
But maybe today, skip the algorithm. Break the routine.
Do something that reminds you you're still in there.
This week’s reflection:
What’s one thing that will make you feel more alive?
See you next Sunday,
Eric
P.S. I almost said no to that text. I’m so glad I didn’t. Thanks for letting me share this with you.
How did this land for you today?
